Manchester City could now see Ederson commit his future to the Etihad Stadium following another withdrawal of interest from Saudi Arabia this week.

The Brazilian has been at the centre of Saudi Arabian transfer interest for the duration of the summer transfer window thus far, having opened his services up to a range of fresh opportunities following the conclusion of last season.

That availability sparked a frenzy in the Middle-East, with Cristiano Ronaldo and Aymeric Laporte’s Al-Nassr becoming the first club to register formal interest and submit a £25 million opening, and only, proposal to Manchester City which was swiftly rejected.

As such, Al-Ittihad swooped in to make their own attempts at signing the 30-year-old, but a fresh development may have now indicated a fresh twist in their own efforts of persuading Manchester City into a sale.

According to the information of TEAMtalk’s Rudy Galetti, Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson now looks set to stay at the Etihad Stadium with talks over a move to Saudi Pro League side Al-Ittihad now off.

It is explained that while Al-Ittihad attempted to negotiate a better price for the shot-stopper after Al-Nassr left the race, they have faced the same problem with Manchester City standing firm on their €50 million price tag – a sum that is ‘too high’ for the Saudi side.

With the Premier League champions expected not to move on their valuation of the 30-year-old, the report states that the hunt for Ederson’s signature is ‘effectively over’ and Al-Ittihad already have alternatives in mind.

Ederson is currently away on pre-season tour with Pep Guardiola and his Manchester City squad in the United States over the coming weeks, taking on his first 45 minutes of match action on Tuesday evening.

The Brazilian shared 90 minutes with his goalkeeping competitor Stefan Ortega in Chapel Hill, North Carolina in a 3-4 defeat to Scottish Premier League champions Celtic, while Pep Guardiola also took time to offer his own take on Ederson’s future.

Speaking after the contest, Guardiola explained, “I’d like him to stay but it depends on other clubs. I don’t know the situation. There have been no contacts in the last days. It’s a question of training, being with us until the transfer window finishes and we’ll see.”

Should the latest information prove to be true, it will come as a major boost to Manchester City and their plans for the rest of the 2024/25 campaign, ensuring less need for transfer market activity during a crucial final few weeks of the summer window.
