Al-Ittihad are eyeing a surprise move for Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford, according to talkSPORT.
The Saudi Pro League (SPL) club are aware of United’s willingness to sell Rashford and want to add him to their squad.
They have signed former Premier League stars Fabinho, N’Golo Kante, Moussa Diaby and Steven Bergwijn and could now add Rashford to the list if they meet United’s demands.
Al-Ittihad are top of the SPL, two points ahead of defending champions Al-Hilal. They are keen to complete a move for the ‘unstoppable’ star in January to aid their title challenge.
The English forward’s future with Man United is bleak after manager Ruben Amorim reportedly decided he must leave to facilitate a culture shift at the club.
There are concerns his poor lifestyle choices have affected his performances. He was fined in January for being pictured in a nightspot after reporting ill for training.
Rashford wants to stay at Old Trafford, but there must be a big change in his attitude for Amorim to change his decision on his future.
The English forward is still in his prime, and a move to Al-Ittihad will not benefit him.
Rashford’s talent has never been questionable, but his attitude has. If he can fix that, he can become a great player, even if it is not at United.
He reportedly wants to represent England at the 2026 World Cup. He can only achieve that by playing regularly and excelling in one of the top teams in Europe.
Former Three Lions manager Gareth Southgate called up Jordan Henderson to the squad despite him playing in the SPL at the time. He received huge criticism for doing so.
New England boss Thomas Tuchel would not make the same mistake. Rashford needs to stay in Europe to have any chance of forcing his way into the England squad.
