The relationship between Robert Lewandowski and Barcelona has always been a positive one. Beyond just his respectable character, the veteran has also delivered on the pitch over the last few seasons. However, his age remains a problem that might have to be addressed soon.

At 36 years of age, Lewandowski is no longer a youngster and there is no guarantee as to how much longer he can play at the top level. In fact, over the last few weeks, Saudi Arabian interest in the player has also been reported, with Al-Hilal being one of the clubs that were keeping a close eye on him.

However, at least for now, Lewandowski seems to have no plans of leaving for Saudi Arabia this summer. Moreover, according to SPORT, Al-Hilal did not dwell on Lewandowski’s rejection and have instead moved on by signing former Liverpool forward Darwin Nunez.

By signing the Uruguayan striker, Al-Hilal are now highly unlikely to pursue Lewandowski’s signature again in the future. As for the Polish striker, his commitment to Barça appears to be absolute. Even according to Tomasz Włodarczy, a Polish journalist who is quite close to Lewandowski, the player has no intention of leaving just yet:

“Lewandowski has no intention of leaving Barcelona. He’s happy, ready for the new season, and determined to fulfill his contract.”

Moreover, as per the same update from SPORT, Barça have not yet ruled out the possibility of renewing Lewandowski’s contract either. As long as he performs on the pitch, he will continue to have a place at the Catalan club it seems.
