Al-Hilal launch move for AC Milan captain Theo Hernandez | OneFootball

The Saudi Arabian Public Investment Fund (PIF) wants to make another statement signing this summer.

They’re planning another raid on the Premier League but are also casting a wider net into Serie A.

According to journalist Gianluigi Longari, Al-Hilal are interested in signing AC Milan captain Theo Hernandez.

Hernandez is considered one of Europe’s most dynamic full-backs and is reportedly open to listening to offers as his future becomes increasingly uncertain.

The 27-year-old has been a mainstay in Milan’s line-up since joining from Real Madrid six years ago.

He has made 262 appearances for the Rossoneri, bagging 34 goals and 45 assists. He was a key part of the Milan squad that won the Serie A title in 2021/22.

Hernandez also won the Italian Super Cup under Sergio Conceicao’s short-lived reign earlier this season.

His ability to influence games at both ends of the pitch has made him one of the best in his position across Europe.

The France international’s contract expires in June 2026, but talks over a new deal have been dragging on for nearly a year, so the club may be forced to cash in this summer.

Milan are reluctant to see their captain leave, but they’re open to selling him for the right price.

Hernandez’s value could drop as he gets closer to the end of his contract, so Milan could be forced to sell for around €45-50 million.

That’s where Al-Hilal come in. Saudi Pro League clubs have cash to burn, so Hernandez’s valuation will be a drop in the ocean. The key would be to tempt the Frenchman with a mouth-watering salary package.

Al-Hilal have stepped up their efforts in recent weeks. The player’s agent has met with Milan officials, and discussions have been ongoing behind the scenes for about a month.

Hernandez has reportedly given the green light to explore Al-Hilal’s proposal in full, with the SPL club keen to complete a deal before the Club World Cup.
