According to Fabrizio Romano, Saudi Arabian side Al-Ettifaq are interested in signing Georgino Wijnaldum (32) from Paris Saint-Germain.

PSG have made it clear to Wijnaldum that he is not a part of the club’s plans and the Dutch international has been training away from the first-team squad since the start of preseason.

Steven Gerrard has pinpointed the former Liverpool player as his key target. If Wijnaldum was to swap Paris for Saudi Arabia, he would be joining up with former teammate and captain Jordan Henderson who made the switch from Liverpool earlier in the summer window. Former Lyon striker Moussa Dembélé has also made the switch to the club managed by Steven Gerrard this summer.

PSG are ready to give the green light to the potential move but the final decision rests with the former Newcastle midfielder. Wijnaldum spent last season away from the Parc des Princes on loan at Roma. The 32-year-old made 23 appearances during his time in the Italian capital under the management of José Mourinho. There are still two weeks left in the Saudi Arabian transfer window so plenty of time remains to complete a deal.
