Eintracht Frankfurt have agreed terms with Serie A club Hellas Verona for the transfer of Ajdin Hrustic.

The Australian, who was under contract until the end of the 2022/23 season, is now off to join the Italian top-flight club.

Hrustic joined SGE from Groningen in summer 2020 and made 40 appearances for the club in all competitions, scoring three goals. The Australian international will be best remembered as part of the Europa League-winning team last season, after he came on during extra time in the final against Rangers and scored one of Frankfurt’s five penalties. The 26-year-old thus leaves for Italy having written his name in the Eagles’ history books.

“Ajdin Hrustic always put the team first and conducted himself in an exemplary manner, particularly last season in spite of his limited playing time,” said board member for sport Markus Krösche. “The penalty he scored in the Europa League final helped us to win the trophy. It was his desire to get regular game time, and we’re granting him that with this transfer. We would like to wish him all the best for his future in Italy.”
