Ajax look set to lose one of their brightest upcoming stars to Borussia Dortmund.
De Telegraaf reports that 15-year-old striker Julian Rijkhoff will join the German club when he turns 16 on 25 January.
Ajax had offered the academy star a contract. However, he turned it down and there were no subsequent negotiations.
That impasse allowed Dortmund to swoop in and offer the Netherlands U-15 international a deal that is much more to his liking.
Due to his age there will be no transfer fee involved, with Ajax only receiving a ‘training allowance’ for the work they have done with the teenager.
The Dutch giants are struggling with academy prospects at the moment.
Brian Brobbey is also likely to leave Amsterdam this month as he is unhappy with his chances of first-team opportunities following the arrival of Sébastien Haller from West Ham.
Frustrated with Brobbey’s stance, Ajax will seek to gain some return on investment before the 18-year-old attacker’s current contract runs out at the end of the season.
