Dušan Tadić has called on the KNVB to ban artificial pitches in the wake of Ajax’s narrow win at Sparta Rotterdam on Sunday.
The Serbia international was on hand to tap home from close range in the first half to secure all three points for the Amsterdam giants.
However the former Southampton attacker was far from happy with the underfoot conditions at the Het Kasteel.
“It is not pleasant to play on artificial grass,” the Ajax captain said, per De Telegraaf.
“Every player is less on artificial grass, as much as 50%. You make a lot of technical mistakes on this surface that you wouldn’t otherwise make.
“The artificial grass has to come out if we want to have a serious competition. The Dutch teams are doing well in Europe. But we have to play on normal grass.”
The victory, achieved behind closed doors due to current COVID-19 restrictions in the Netherlands, moved Ajax two points clear at the top of the Eredivisie.
Nearest challengers PSV and Feyenoord slipped up with draws against Heerenveen and Twente respectively.
