According to De Telegraaf, contact with Werder Bremen has been made by Ajax to bring Davy Klaassen back to Amsterdam.
The 27-year-old has had a very underwhelming spell since leaving Ajax for Everton in 2017, making just 16 appearances for the Toffees since his €27m move, forcing his way to Bremen the following summer.
Though Klaassen’s individual performances improved drastically in Germany, Werder Bremen were nearly relegated for the first time since 1980, surviving the relegation play-off by way of away goals.
Klaassen has two years remaining on his current deal and it’s believed Ajax representatives are on their way to Germany in hopes of coming to an agreement.
Meanwhile, with Sergiño Dest on his way to Barcelona, it appears Ajax have decided to replace him with Utrecht’s Sean Klaiber – a player Erik ten Hag managed during his time at the club.
Aside from a brief loan spell, Klaiber has spent his entire career at Utrecht, making 153 appearances for the club since his debut in 2013.
