Ajax sell Sven Botman to Lille for €8m

After a successful season on loan at Heerenveen, Ajax have agreed to sell Sven Botman to Ligue 1 outfit Lille for €8m.

The 20-year-old signed a new Ajax deal in February but now departs for France without making a first-team appearance for the Amsterdam giants.

Botman told the Lille website: “I come from a big club, but I also join a big club here. Everyone I’ve met so far has been very nice and welcoming.

“I’m still young, but I hope I can help my new club as much as possible.”

Botman has signed a five-year deal for last year’s fourth-placed side and will wear the number five shirt.
