According to Tuttosport, AS Roma are set to enter the race for Wout Weghorst, potentially pushing Ajax of pole position for the Dutch striker’s signature. Weghorst will make a desicion on his future after the European Championships, where he’s made the perfect impression as a supersub in the Netherlands national team. The 31-year-old is still under contract at Burnley, but spent last season on loan at Hoffenheim where he netted seven goals in 28 Bundesliga appearances.

Burnley are reportedly demanding a transfer fee of €10m, which seems to be a stumbling block for Ajax. The club are hoping for departures before making their own moves in the transfer market. Fellow Eredivisie side FC Twente are also interested in Wout Weghorst, but his price tag is thought to be too high for the club.

Roma boss Daniele De Rossi is keen to bring Weghorst to the Italian capital and sees him as a potential replacement for Romelu Lukaku. The striker will almost certainly leave Burnley this summer, but he’ll have a big decision to make on his future after the Euros.
