Ajax have been handed a pre-season blow after defender Sean Klaiber suffered an injury during training on Thursday.

The club confirmed Klaiber injured his cruciate ligament in his left knee and was forced to leave Ajax’s training camp in Bramberg, Austria despite just arriving.

The 27-year-old right-back took to social media to express his frustrations and share his appreciation for the good wishes he’s received.

“Ended training camp yesterday with a torn anterior cruciate ligament,” read  Klaiber’s post.

“The season will be different than I envisioned. I want to thank everyone for all the support.”

During the 2020/21 season, Klaiber made 22 appearances for the Eredivisie giants.
