Central defender Jurriën Timber and midfielder Edson Álvarez are both said to be on the Merseyside club’s radar for the summer. The duo have been regulars in the starting 11 for Ajax over the last few seasons, making it unsurprising that they are garnering attention.

Timber has started in all but one of Ajax’s competitive games this season. He has scored once and assisted twice this season, all coming in the Eredivisie. In 109 games in the Ajax senior team to date, the Dutch international has scored eight times, with six assists. The 21-year-old also started in all of Netherlands’ World Cup games last year. While centre-back is his primary position, Timber has also been deployed at full back when needed. His market value is currently €45m.

Álvarez has also been a regular in the Ajax first team, playing in 22 of the 24 Eredivisie games this season. The Mexican has two goals and two assists to his name this campaign across all competitions. The 25-year-old also played in two of Mexico’s group games in Qatar. While his main position is a holding midfielder, Álvarez can also play centre-back if needed. His current market value sits at €35m.

Both players will still have a massive part to play in Ajax’s season, as the Amsterdam club are currently second behind Feyenoord in the Eredivisie.
