ANFIELD WATCH VERDICT

This could be a big loss for Ajax given Antony’s impressive start to life in the Netherlands this season. The Brazilian forward joined Ajax from Sao Paulo in the summer for a fee in the region of £14m and has already caught the eye in his first few appearances for the club.

Antony has scored three goals in four Eredivisie starts this season, quickly showing that he has an eye for a goal from the wide areas. He has averaged an excellent WhoScored rating of 7.23 and won Man of the Match in two of the four games, highlighting the exceptional standard of his performances for Ajax so far. Along with that, he ranks third for WhoScored ratings in the Ajax squad for players who have started more than one game. This shows the level of impact he has had at the club and how he is already one of their star players.

His absence, therefore, could improve Liverpool’s chances of coming back to England with the three points as Ajax will be missing one of their key attackers. It could hurt Ajax’s forward movement and limit the chances they can create – or take – against the Reds.
