Ajax coach Erik ten Hag insists they do not deserve to be out of Europe after last night's draw at Roma.

Roma reached the Europa League semifinals 3-2 on aggregate after drawing 1-1 with Ajax in the second-leg.

Ten Hag lamented: “It's frustrating. The best team has been eliminated.

“The team that dominated both matches is out. It's such a shame, as just like last week, we created plenty of chances, but failed to take advantage of them.

“Brobbey brought exactly the kind of impact we were looking for and had a great performance as a substitute."

Dusan Tadic had seemingly scored for Ajax to make it 2-0, but the goal was disallowed after a VAR on-field review for the foul on Henrikh Mkhitaryan.

“That goal was disallowed for incomprehensible reasons," Ten Hag told ESPN.

“The referee was on top of it and let the game go on. If he judged the situation, it's just a legal goal."
