According to Fabrizio Romano, Ajax are close to completing a deal to sign Georges Mikautadze from Metz. The 22-year-old Georgian striker is set to undergo medical tests tomorrow before officially becoming an Ajax player. Currently, an agreement is being finalised between Ajax and the French Ligue 1 side.

Mikautadze has been sensational for FC Metz from the moment that he broke into their first team. Last season, the versatile forward scored 23 goals and provided eight assists in 37 Ligue 2 appearances, to help propel Metz back to the French top flight. The 16-time Georgia international has already kicked off the new campaign in superb style, scoring two goals and providing an assist within Metz’s first three games of the new campaign.

A move to Ajax is on the horizon for Georges Mikautadze. The talented attacker is incredibly versatile as he’s able to play as a striker, winger or attacking midfielder. With Mikautadze on his way to the Johan Cruyff Arena, the Thiago Almada rumours will be put to bed. The Argentine attacking midfielder from Atlanta United was heavily linked with a move to Ajax last week. Georges Mikautadze is seen as a more affordable option and is rumoured to cost Ajax around €15m.
