That’s a big claim made by Valentijn Driessen of Dutch outlet De Telegraaf this weekend, who report that Barça wanted to take the Serbian on loan until the end of the season but Ajax rejected their offer.
Tadić signed a whopping seven-year deal at Ajax last summer which is expected to keep the 31-year-old in Amsterdam for the rest of his playing career and beyond.
But the former Southampton playmaker would reportedly have jumped at the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to play for Barcelona.
“Barcelona wanted to rent him, but Ajax said no,” Driessen told Veronica Inside.
“They already miss Ziyech, Neres and Blind. That would be too much of a good thing.
“Tadic would have loved it, that is clear. When will a 31-year-old end up in Barcelona?
“They won’t come back for him in the summer.”
