Ajax announce Georges Mikautadze departure

Georges Mikautadze has left Ajax to re-join Metz on an initial loan deal, the club have confirmed.

The 23-year-old is under contract for another four years at the Johan Cruyff Arena but he, like many this season, has had a frustrating campaign.

As a result, he has left for Metz, who sold him to Ajax in August for a reported €16m fee, on loan until the end of the season.

However, the deal does include an option for the French side to bring him back permanently this summer for €10m.

The Georgia international managed nine appearances in the first half of the season.
