In a transfer saga that has swung all over the place, Ainsley Maitland-Niles had options to got to Leicester, Southampton and Newcastle in addition to West Brom but it is Big Sam’s men side have sealed the deal.

The move is a loan until the end of the season and it’s not clear what terms come with the deal. There has been much mention of options and obligations to buy along with claims Arsenal wanted AMN played at right-back, which would seem irrelevant if they were planning on selling him.

Early on Monday it was claimed that Arsenal did not even want Maitland-Niles to go to West Brom. They wanted him to go to Southampton, which the player also seemed to want but his ‘people’ did not.

There is reportedly no option to buy the player, although this has not been confirmed it was reported by David Ornstein, and Maitland-Niles will make his debut against Tottenham on Sunday, his move coming too late to get him registered in time to face Sheffield United on Tuesday.
