AIMC announce follow-up protest vs. Brugge: “Embarrassing behaviour from the club”

After they announced a protest for the Udinese game on Saturday, the AIMC have now announced they will be following up with another one tonight.

The Italian Milan Club Association (AIMC) announced on Saturday that for the match against Udinese their banners would be displayed upside down, which is a sign of protest. They cited ‘incomprehensible decisions from the club’, and their concerns have clearly not been answered.

Now, on the day of the third game of the Champions League ‘league phase’ against Club Brugge at San Siro, the AIMC have put out another statement which says they will not display any of their banner at all.

“Following the embarrassing behaviour from the club in recent days, AIMC will not be displaying banners today,” it begins.

“We would like to point out, unlike what some newspapers have reported, that our association has a legally recognised relationship with the Milan club (it has been a partner since 1967) and that AIMC have never taken tickets at discounted prices, it simply has a small supply of tickets for home games, coupons at the ‘season ticket holders’ pre-emption’ rate (therefore at the same price as all other stadium season ticket holders), to only partially satisfy the countless requests of the over 50,000 members of Milan Clubs around the world.

“Since the match with Juventus, AIMC has moved on to a drastic reduction in tickets and, moreover, has seen the ‘free sale’ rate applied, just like any occasional fan or, even worse, just like the hundreds of gobbi [Juve’s nickname] who will fill San Siro.

“We are not cash cows, we are not only there to fill the stadium when the matches are useless, we are not there to fill the Casa Milan museum or the San Siro parking lot with almost 120 buses every time a home game is played, and above all, we are not Coca Cola and popcorn fans as some would like us to be…

“WE were born almost 60 years ago with the intention of always being present and close to the team, to support the red and black colours everywhere and we cannot passively accept everything that this club are putting in place.

“The rich foreign tourist or the occasional fan who spends money on Milan only once a year is preferred, compared to those who have been making real sacrifices for years to always go and see their team.

“We constantly hear complaints that families don’t go to the stadium but have you done the math???!!! We hope for a quick U-turn by the management, because we reject the thought that the club is happy to have a stadium like the first 80 minutes on Saturday. Always Forza Milan!”

Before the clash against Liverpool in the Champions League, several reports highlighted the fact that tickets were on sale until the day of the match due to the extortionate ticket prices, and the theme has repeated itself with the Juventus game next month.
