Former Juventus President Andrea Agnelli refuses to rule out a return to the club and insists Cristiano Ronaldo’s move to Turin ‘was good.’
The ex-Bianconeri chairman released an interview with the Financial Times admitting that he could return to the Allianz Stadium one day.
Journalist Murad Ahmed, who conducted the interview, said Agnelli “will not rule out” a return to the club.
The former Juventus President had resigned alongside the the entire board of directors in November 2022 following a FIGC investigation into Juventus’ finances.
The Bianconeri are still trying to recover and only made one signing last summer, the American Timothy Weah. Ironically, the financial downfall of the Old Lady began with the purchase of Cristiano Ronaldo in 2018.
The Portuguese forward joined the Old Lady from Real Madrid for over €100m, signing a €31m-a-year contract until 2022.
“It was a good move,” insisted Agnelli.
“Give me Ronaldo and let me deploy him without a pandemic, and it’s a different story.”
Talking about financial investigations on Juventus which led to a ten-point deduction in Serie A last season, Agnelli said: “I remain convinced that everything we’ve done, we’ve done it by the book, according to the financial standards . . . I am super easy.
“You have assets that you can move, do it. If it is legal, what’s my issue?”
