Bayern Munich have got several loan deals on the money over the last few seasons. Players have developed away from Munich and eventually became part of the first team. Bryan Zaragoza is the latest success story for Bayern when it comes to arranging the right loan deals for their players.
The Spanish winger left Bayern to join Osasuna on a season-long loan in the summer. Zaragoza arrived in Munich from Granada during the winter break but couldn’t get adequate playing time during the second half of the season.
With the arrival of Michael Olise in Munich during the summer transfer window, Bayern decided to send Zaragoza out on loan. The 23-year-old winger agreed to go back to La Liga in order to rebuild his confidence. The move to Osasuna has done wonders for him as he has got back into the Spanish national team due to impressive performances in La Liga.
Thomas Tuchel didn’t show enough faith in Zaragoza. The German coach insisted that the Spaniard needed time to get used to the new country and language to make an impact on the pitch. While talking to Relevo, Zaragoza’s agent insisted that the winger was a victim of the bad blood between Tuchel and Bayern.
"As soon as Bryan arrived in Munich, the club told Tuchel that he would not continue. That was key. Bryan was a bet for the club and I think the coach did not play him to spite the club. He was angry. It was strange, we had met with Tuchel and he told us that he saw Bryan playing on the wing or behind the striker"- Manu Sánchez (Bryan Zaragoza's agent)
Zaragoza recently took a dig at Tuchel after scoring a winner for Spain during the last international break. The former Granada winger made only seven appearances for Die Roten under Tuchel. His game time in Bavarian colours was a meager 171 minutes.
It has been widely reported in Spanish and German media that Bayern will consider a permanent sale of Zaragoza next season. The 23-year-old winger has no regrets about joining Die Roten despite how his time in Bavaria has panned out until now.
Zaragoza can change Bayern’s mind by delivering consistent performances in La Liga. Bayern are expected to part ways with a couple of senior wingers, which can present an opportunity for Zaragoza. With Vincent Kompany getting the best out of most forwards at Bayern this season, Zaragoza will get a much better environment to succeed in Munich when he returns from Osasuna at the end of the season.
For now, the Spaniard should aim to get in double digits for goal contributions at Osasuna this season. The versatile winger will get more opportunities to play for the Spanish team if he delivers consistent performances in La Liga. A decision on his long-term future at Bayern is likely to be made at the end of the season.
