In a recent report, Sport mentioned that Ousmane Dembele’s agent, Moussa Sissoko has offered his client to Newcastle United. It is understood that both the Magpies and Juventus have been given an opportunity to sign the French speedster when his contract with Barcelona runs out at the end of this season.

Dembele’s Promising Campaign At The Nou Camp Recently

Dembele is yet to make an appearance for Barca in La Liga this season. However, the 24-year-old proved his worth as a valuable contributor in Ronald Koeman’s match-day squad in the previous campaign. He was involved in 44 matches for the Catalan giants last season, netting 11 goals and picking up five assists in various competitions.

The Vernon-born talent gave a good account of himself by averaging 1.8 shots, 1.3 key passes and 2.1 dribbles per game in the 2020-21 La Liga season. Dembele was even tidy when distributing the ball in the opponent’s half after making 85.8% of his attempted passes in the Spanish first division (stats via whoscored).

Should Newcastle United Get Ousmane Dembele On Board?

Dembele is one of the quickest players in La Liga and can make a few well-timed runs in behind the opposition half. He can even create some inviting openings for others around him and is usually a clinical finisher in front of the opponent’s goal. However, frequent injuries have completely disrupted his progress at the Nou Camp, so it makes sense for the talented attacker to seal a move elsewhere once his contract expires next summer.

Newcastle United have the financial power to offer Dembele a lucrative contract that might give them an edge over other clubs in the race to sign him on a free transfer.
