The winger’s agent Roberto Meloni spoke to Tuttomercatoweb recently and he revealed that Spurs had been interested in the Frenchman this past summer, but the player didn’t want to leave Sassuolo for money and he is looking to advance his career in Europe right now.

Meloni said: “Bayer Leverkusen liked him as a replacement for Diaby [joined Aston Villa]. Then there was an interest from Tottenham and it’s no mystery that Giuntoli would have liked him if he had stayed at Napoli. In the Premier League, there was an attempt from West Ham, but he wants to reach an important level, preferring a second season at Sassuolo.”

Meloni also revealed that 24-year-old could leave Sassuolo next summer and he wants to impress with the Mapei-based club this season before sealing a move.

“I think so, although it will depend on his performances this year. We already had a lot of interest in him, but in terms of growth we didn’t feel like leaving Sassuolo for the sake of change. It doesn’t make sense for us.”

For Sassuolo this season, Lauriente has played five times in Serie A and he has scored one goal while racking up one assist.
