The agent of Inter centre-back Stefan De Vrij has revealed that the club have contacted him to discuss a new contract for his client, as he approaches the final months of his deal.

De Vrij is yet to commit his future to Inter and is set to become a free agent in the summer, alongside fellow centre-back Milan Skriniar, who has turned down an offer from the Nerazzurri and is believed to be closing in on a move to Paris Saint-Germain.

In an interview with Italian television broadcaster Rai Sport, on their Calcio Totale programme and as reported by FCInterNews.it, Federico Pastorello claimed that Inter had been in touch with him to arrange negotiations over an extension for De Vrij.

“I don’t know if Skriniar will go to PSG by the end of the transfer market in January, but what I can say is that the Inter managers have called me in these hours to speed up the contract renewal of De Vrij, who is my client,” Pastorello revealed.

The agent also indicated that De Vrij was happy to remain at Inter, but was not short of options if a renewal did not happen, particularly from Spain’s La Liga.

“He wants to stay in Milan but there are also other clubs, especially the Spanish ones, who have been asking for him for some time,” he added.

De Vrij joined Inter from Lazio as a free agent in 2018 and has made 183 appearances for the Nerazzurri in all competitions, but has been limited to just 18 games this season.
