It’s long been rumoured that Ajax will be keen to sell David Neres next month in order to help fund a move for Tottenham’s Steven Bergwijn.
However, the Brazilian’s agent, Revien Kanhai of Forza Sports Group, has shot those premonitions down.
Kanhai claims that, unless there is a substantial offer that will work for everyone involved, the 24-year-old will be staying put in order to help Ajax push for all available trophies.
“Those rumours are not true,” he told Ajax Showtime. “Ajax prefers to finish the season with Neres unless there is an offer that is satisfactory for both parties.
“The club prefers to enter into the decisive months of the season with Neres. Ajax knows from its own experience that he can then be decisive for the club.”
Though the seven-time Brazil international has played a major role at the club in the past, he’s only been on the field 34% of the time this season (774 minutes).
