I think pretty much every Chelsea player other than Cole Palmer really has endured some criticism over the last couple of seasons as the club struggled.
It all got very toxic last season under Mauricio Pochettino, and it has pretty much been that way for the last few seasons since the new ownership came in. I don’t think anyone can really doubt their ambitions, but many of the decisions they have made over time have been somewhat questionable at the very least.
However, this season it finally looks like things are picking up a bit under Enzo Maresca, who seems to be making use of some quality players now in his squad.
One player who took some criticism last season after being an expensive new signing is midfielder Moises Caicedo.
Personally I think he just took a bit of time to settle in to his new surroundings and felt a bit of pressure playing for such a big club, a club he already adored.
Caicedo has been superb
This season though, he has been incredible and turned into one of Chelsea’s top performers and showing a lot of consistency. Former Chelsea midfielder John Obi Mikel recently called him the heartbeat of the Chelsea team, and I completely agree.
Caicedo’s agent, Manuel Sierra, has been speaking about the criticism that his client recently had to take.
“Moisés is very sensitive, things affect him a lot in the short term, but he is a titan and a warrior as you see him on the pitch. And over time we have seen the best version of him. For his football he has been applauded by many. We as representatives try to be with him as a family so that he always gets up,” the agent said in words cited by Sport Witness today.
