The agent of Manchester United midfielder Andreas Pereira has spoken out about his client’s willingness to remain in Italy amid suggestions the Brazilian could return to Manchester in the summer.

Pereira, 25, first joined United in 2012 after making the switch from PSV’s youth academy in a deal worth just £135,000, as per Transfermarkt.

Despite spending nearly 10-years with the Red Devils, Pereira has featured in just 75 senior first-team matches, in all competitions.

Most disappointing though, has been the South American’s goal contributions which stands at just four goals and five assists.

Pereira’s continued poor form was the catalyst behind manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer sanctioning a loan move to Serie A side Lazio during last summer’s transfer window.

It was reported by The Sun that Pereira’s season-long loan deal to Lazio also includes an option to buy believed to be worth £24m.

After struggling to be named in Lazio’s starting line-ups, there had been recent suggestions that the midfielder could be set to return to United next summer.

However, according to his agent Matheus Diniz who spoke exclusively to Het Belang van Limburg‘s written publication, the 25-year-old is ‘happy’ with life in Italy.

When asked about his future, as quoted by The Laziali, Diniz said:  “He is happy in Rome.

“Andreas likes the Italian culture, which is closer to the Brazilian than the English. He feels good in Rome. Lives there with his wife and daughter. The supporters like him, only he wants to play more.

“Until now he has mainly been a substitute, but he always does well. He started in the playing XI against Torino and scored immediately.

“I don’t do Pereira’s transfer business – I do marketing – but my feeling is that both club and player want to get on with each other.

“There is another clause, which says that Lazio has a first option if another club makes a bid. So, I certainly don’t rule out that he will play for Lazio next season.

“Players may also leave, and Andreas is also very well integrated into the group. He is good friends with Lucas, whom he knew from England, Correa and Caicedo.”
