Bournemouth winger Jaidon Anthony “wants to stay” at the Premier League club, according to his agent, despite reported interest from Arsenal.

The 23-year-old was playing on loan for non-league Weymouth as recently as 2020 after coming through the Cherries youth academy.

Anthony has excelled in recent seasons at Bournemouth with the winger a key figure as the club were promoted from the Championship last season. He contributed eight goals and seven assists in 45 matches.

It has been a big step up this season for Bournemouth and Anthony with the Englishman making just four Premier League starts but 18 appearances overall in all competitions.

But, with six months remaining on his current deal at the Vitality Stadium, there have been reports that Premier League leaders Arsenal are interested in signing him.

The Bournemouth Echo insist that Anthony ‘is being tracked by’ Arsenal but his ‘preference is to remain at the Vitality Stadium beyond the end of his current deal’.

Leicester City as well as Bundesliga outfits Borussia Monchengladbach and Bayer Leverkusen are also interested in Anthony but his agent Godfrey Torto claims his client’s priority is renewing with the Cherries.

When asked about interest from Arsenal, Torto said: “I can’t comment on the particular clubs in terms of speculation, but with Jaidon running into the last six months of his contract, it’s natural that clubs would be interested in a player of his talent and age.

“However, Jaidon has always indicated he’s happy at Bournemouth. He does love the club, as seen after the Burnley game – he stayed out with the fans, he wrote a letter to them as well.

“He loves the club and his focus is trying to help the club get results, and try and stay in the league.”

Torto added in an interview with the Bournemouth Echo: “In terms of the contract situation, we are in dialogue.

“I think Jaidon has always been wanting to stay at the club and I think the main thing is trying to find a fair deal that he’s happy with and works for the club.

“But we are in dialogue and it was last left for the club to come back. So, that’s where the situation is, basically.

“He is happy at the club and we are in dialogue about a contract, but we’re just waiting to hear back from Bournemouth.”
