Agent blasts Real Madrid and fans for Bale treatment

Agent Jonathan Barnett has taken aim at Real Madrid and their fans over their treatment of Gareth Bale.

After seven years in Madrid, Bale returned to Tottenham last week on-loan for the season.

Barnett told BB Radio 4: "In my opinion he was not well treated by the club for what he has achieved in seven years, I think he deserved another treatment."

And on the fans, he added, "What they did with him was a shame and Real Madrid did not help in that situation."

Barnett admits Spurs chairman Daniel Levy had long attempted to take Bale back to London.

He added: "Daniel Levy has been interested in bringing Gareth back for a long time, but there was always a reason why it couldn't be done. Now is the right time."
