In a recent interview with Football Insider, former Premier League attacker Gabriel Agbonlahor urged Aston Villa starlet Carney Chukwuemeka to pen a new contract. Agbonlahor said, “My message to him would be, Aston Villa is the best place for you to be.

“You might have clubs like Man City and Man United looking at you but you’ve got more chance of breaking through at Aston Villa and get minutes.

“If I was him I’d keep with it, keep performing for the Under-23s, keep performing in training with Steven Gerrard.

“He will get his chance and you’ve got to be patient. Look at Jacob Ramsey, he got his chance.

“When you get your chance take it. My advice would be to reject offers from Liverpool and everyone else, stay and sign a new contract with the club.

“He’s still young. All you need is that one game, make it count and you’ll stay in the team.”

Chukwuemeka’s Rapid Rise At Villa Park

The 18-year-old has come through the youth ranks of Aston Villa and has done well to break into their first-team set-up. Chukwuemeka has already made six senior appearances for the West Midlands outfit this season but is still waiting to score or assist his first goal for the club.

The English midfield ace has impressed a lot with his performances for the Villans’ Under-23 team. He has registered three goals and five assists in 27 matches for Aston Villa’s U-23 side so far. His current contract at Villa Park is set to run out in the summer of 2023, so Steven Gerrard would be eager to tie him down to a new long-term contract so that he can avoid losing him to a top club.

Does Chukwuemeka Have A Future At Aston Villa?

Chukwuemeka is a moderately paced midfielder who can complete some eye-catching dribbles with the ball from midfield. He is proficient at making a few clever runs towards the opposition penalty box and can score or create the odd goal from time to time.

The English prospect has already begun to show glimpses of his true potential. However, he is yet to make himself a regular starter at Villa Park. Even then, it makes more sense for the youngster to stay and fight for a place in Steven Gerrard‘s senior squad rather than join another club where he might struggle to taste any real game time in top-flight football.

Chukwuemeka has the potential to become a future star at the West Midlands club. Hence, if Aston Villa can manage to keep hold of him, he could be in for a very bright future ahead as he will get a chance to make a name for himself under the expert stewardship of Gerrard.
