Gabriel Agbonlahor has warned West Ham United to not make the same mistake they did in signing Sebastien Haller by pursuing a deal for Sevilla’s Youssef En-Nesyr.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Aston Villa and England striker told the Hammers to sign a “proven” Premier League forward like AFC Bournemouth’s Joshua King.

The Athletic report the Hammers have placed a £22.5million bid plus £4.5million add-ons for En-Nesyr as they look to replace Haller.

The Ivory Coast international left the London Stadium earlier this month as he moved to Ajax for a £20million fee.

En-Nesyr, 23, has scored 13 goals in 26 games for club and country this season and played a key role in the Sevilla side that won last season’s Europa League.

Asked by Football Insider what he made of the London outfit making a move En-Nesyr, Agbonlahor said: “I just think West Ham need to be careful of making the same mistake they did with Haller.

“For me, I’d go with someone who is proven in the Premier League. Josh King is for me. He’s proven.

“For me, it’s a risk, the safer option for Moyes is somebody that has done it in the Premier League already.”

King has scored 48 goals in 161 Premier League games in the five seasons he spent in the top-flight with Bournemouth.

En-Nesyr has spent his entire professional career in La Liga and has found the net 30 times in 122 appearances in the division.
