“Again and again” – Chelsea not going to give up on Enzo Fernandez | OneFootball

Two major stories are brewing up as we head toward the January transfer deadline right now, and Chelsea have been involved in both.

The Blues have been searching for a new midfielder all month and have yet to get one over the line. Enzo Fernandez was the number one priority, but when talks slowed on that one, they turned to Moises Caicedo of Brighton.

The Blues had a £55m offer rejected for Caicedo ten days ago now according to Fabrizio Romano, writing in his exclusive Daily Briefing for CaughtOffside.

But are Chelsea expected to go back in for him?

No, according to Romano they are now fully focused on signing Enzo instead. But Arsenal are still pushing for Caicedo, and this story as well as the Enzo one, is set to take over the last two days of the transfer window.

“Chelsea are fully focused on Enzo now, not on Caicedo after £55m bid turned down ten days ago,” Romano said in his latest column.

“Chelsea and Benfica are speaking again now for Enzo Fernandez, Chelsea are prepared to pay €120m fee but final decision is up to Rui Costa who insists to keep the player.

“Chelsea will push in the next hours, again and again.”
