Sudan played host to the second edition of the African Nations Championship (CHAN).
Sixteen nations took part in the tournament: Sudan (host nation), Algeria, Tunisia, Mali, Senegal, Côte d'Ivoire, Ghana, Niger, Cameroon, Gabon, DR Congo, Uganda, Rwanda, South Africa, and Angola.
The Carthage Eagles were unstoppable throughout the continental competition. After being held to a draw in their opening group stage match against Angola (1-1), they bounced back with convincing wins over Rwanda (3-1) and Senegal (2-0).
In the quarter-finals, Tunisia edged past DR Congo with a narrow win before defeating Algeria in the semi-finals on penalties 5-3 (the match ended 1-1 after regular time). In the final, they made light work of Angola with a comprehensive 3-0 victory.
