AFC Wimbledon are holding out for a fee near £1 million for left-back Jack Currie, who has been the subject of a third Bristol City bid, according to Bristol Live.

It looks set to be a busy day for the Championship club, who are also thought to be pursuing both Wymcombe attacker Anis Mehmetic and Luton Town forward Harry Cornick as they seek a replacement for Antoine Semenyo.

The Robins are keen to add defensive reinforcements as well with Crystal Palace centre-back Jake O’Brien and Currie also linked.

Bristol Live has provided an update on their pursuit of the latter and revealed that the Bs3 outfit have tabled a third bid for the Dons left-back after seeing their first two rebuked.

The report claims that the League Two club are holding out for a fee near £1 million for the 21-year-old, who has enjoyed a breakthrough season at Plough Lane.

Currie, who is a product of the Dons academy, only has 18 months left on his current contract but his club are in a strong negotiating position after the sales of Ayoub Assal earlier this month and Jack Rudoni in the summer.

Landing the left-back would clear the way for Birmingham City and Coventry City target Jay Dasilva to depart.

The Verdict

It appears it could cost City a high six-figure fee to prize Currie away from Plough Lane on deadline day.

Wimbledon do not need to sell the defender, given his contract situation and the money they’ve made from the departures of Assal and Rudoni, but it seems they’re open to cashing in if the right offer is made.

Whether or not the Robins’ third bid meets that valuation or is close to it remains to be seen.

One thing is for sure, though, it’s set to be a busy day for the South West club.
