Charleroi have announced the signing of Adrien Trebel on a one year deal. The former Anderlecht midfielder has now been reunited with Felice Mazzu, who was in charge of the Mauves for the first half of the 2022/2023 season. Under Mazzu, Trebel played the majority of his 11 games last season for the Anderlecht. During his time at the Brussels club, Trebel played 127 matches, scoring nine goals and providing 21 assists. However, his time there was not without controversy due to his large wages.

Prior to his time with Anderlecht, Trebel played for their rivals Standard Liege. He made 106 appearances for Standard, scoring 10 goals and providing 13 assists. Trebel spent some time on loan at Swiss side FC Lausanne-Sport,. The now 32-year-old began his career in France with FC Nantes, where he played 105 games, scoring four times and providing eight assists.
