Hatem Ben Arfa’s stinging attack on Paris Saint-Germain and support for Adrien Rabiot has been welcomed by the player’s mother.
On Saturday night, the Rennes man returned to haunt his former club by helping his current side to a Coupe de France final win.
After the game, he launched a verbal attack on PSG’s president Nasser Al-Khelaifi, who has facilitated Rabiot being frozen out in the same fashion that Ben Arfa was.
“You should never underestimate an opponent because one day he will come back stronger,” Ben Arfa said.
“One day Rabiot will come back and he will haunt them. That’s how life should be. You should respect human beings and when you do that, everything is fine.”
Those words were greeted warmly in the Rabiot camp, particularly by his mother Veronique, who also acts as the player’s agent.
“I sincerely thank Hatem for his statement and his support for Adrien. Everyone knows he is being abused,” she told AFP.
“The others know that Adrien suffers even if he doesn’t say anything and it is that suffering which resonates.
“[Al-Khelaifi] is a gangrene at the club. You can’t ignore it when one of the great players at your club is abused right before your eyes.”
The 24-year-old hasn’t featured for PSG in 2019 and has been banished from the squad after refusing to renew his contract, which expires this summer.
