Former Parma, Inter and one-time Roma attacker Adriano appeared on the Brazilian podcast Podpah, discussing his nearly ten-year stay in Italy.
The Brazilian impressed during his first few years in Serie A with Fiorentina, Parma, and Inter. However, a string of poor performances, personal tragedies, and lack of fitness derailed his final seasons with the Nerazzurri, leaving the club and returning to Brazil with Flamengo in 2009.
After rediscovering his form with the Rio-based club, Adriano returned to Italy in 2010 with Roma, signing a three-year contract with the club.
However, ‘l’imperatore’ made only eight appearances for the Giallorossi and had his contract terminated after just seven months.
“I never should’ve left Brazil and returned to Italy in 2010,” he admitted.
“I wanted to redeem myself because of how things ended with Inter. Italians showed a lot of passion and love towards me and I kept those feelings in my heart.”
He added, “So I wanted to return and reciprocate the affection that was shown towards me. However, my mind was still in Brazil.”
