ADO Den Haag will get a chance to avenge their play-off defeat of two years ago when they face Excelsior on Wednesday evening. The side from The Hague have spent the last three seasons in the Dutch second tier and are desperate for a return to the top flight. The closest the side came was in the 2021/2022 season, immediately following relegation. They made the play-off final but lost to Excelsior at home on penalties after the tie was level on aggregate.

However, they now face an excelsior side who are completely out of form. The Rotterdam based side have only won three times since the turn of the year, one of the main reasons why they found themselves in the bottom three at the end of the Eredivisie season. Excelsior have been reliant on Troy Parrott for goals this season, with the Tottenham loanee grabbing 10.

Overall the side grabbed 72 goals in 38 games this season, the third best in the second tier.

The first leg will take place at the Bingoal Stadion on Wednesday evening before returning to Rotterdam on Saturday evening. The winner over two legs will play either NAC Breda or FC Emmen.
