It's been a very busy transfer window for Bayer Leverkusen already - Florian Wirtz, Jonathan Tah, Jeremie Frimpong and Xabi Alonso have already left the club, while Granit Xhaka, Alejandro Grimaldo and Victor Boniface are all thinking about leaving die Werkself as well.
A name, which hasn't been mentioned all too many times in this transfer window, is Amine Adli - but the Morocco international has now joined the list of players to potentially leave the vice champion:
“Bayer is an extraordinary club. But after four years and so many emotions, I think it's normal to ask yourself questions about your future. To know what I want to do. Should I leave or not, discover something new? It's legitimate to ask yourself these questions, especially when you start a new cycle”, said Adli in an interview with “L'Èquipe”.
"The departures of Wirtz, Tah and Frimpong also mark the start of a new era. I was very close to the three of them in the dressing room. I was with them the whole time. It will be very special to start again without them."
After a difficult season filled with setbacks due to injuries, Adli is optimistically looking ahead to next season: “I'm keen to play in my position again, be it on the right or as a second, floating striker. To feel freedom, responsibility, rhythm and confidence.”
“With all this, I can play good seasons and take the final step in my career. I have to find all that again.”
Adli also spoke about his new coach Erik ten Hag: “Everyone knows him, he's coached very big clubs, that's no coincidence. You never know how things will go with a coach, but he has an attacking style of play, promotes young players enormously and I think his profile fits in perfectly with Bayer's direction.”
It remains to be seen, whether Adli can now step up and become a leader in a fully revamped Bayer Leverkusen team. Maybe he will rethink his future, if he succeeds.
