Yacine Adli has admitted that when he arrived at AC Milan he was a player that still needed work, praising Stefano Pioli for the guidance he gave him.

Adli joined Milan on a permanent deal from Bordeaux but was loaned back to the French side before joining up permanently one year later, but his couple of seasons with the Rossoneri were up and down as he struggled for regular playing time under Pioli.

He was sent on loan to Fiorentina in the summer (with an option to buy) as Paulo Fonseca did not consider him a clear part of the plans, and the message from the midfielder could not have been more emphatic given he scored against Milan for his new club in the game before the break.

Adli spoke in an interview with Sky about how he is finding life in Florence so far and as part of it he revisited the time that he has had so far with his parent club Milan.

“My arrival at Fiorentina? I had a slightly different pre-season than usual but I worked hard to get back to my best and now I’m fine,” he said (via MilanPress).

“I arrived with the desire to settle in and make myself known to my teammates. Everyone helped me. Palladino gives me confidence and I respond with the desire to work. Game after game you have to take everything you deserve.

“When I arrived in Italy I was missing some things to be a complete player. Pioli helped me a lot and I looked for this growth to play there. I want to win something with Fiorentina and I want to aim high, I hope to give a lot of help to the team.”
