Adi Hütter has praised Breel Embolo (27), who put in an impressive performance off the bench in AS Monaco’s 1-0 victory over Lille OSC on Wednesday. It was only the Swiss international’s second appearance of the season.
Prior to the beginning of the current campaign, Embolo, who had a successful debut season at the Principality club (42 appearances, 14 goals), suffered an ACL injury. The road back has been long, however, having come off the bench in the final stage of Sunday’s 2-0 victory over Stade Brestois, Embolo was given more of a chance to impress against Lille.
Whilst Embolo will be lacking in match fitness, he looked sharp and displayed strength and intelligence to link the play up and retain possession for his side. Questioned by Get French Football News in a post-match press conference, Hütter hailed Embolo’s impact off the bench.
“How he came in, the impact he had, it was amazing. He helped us a lot. He has a different element to (Folarin) Balogun and (Wissam) Ben Yedder. In the last four games, he could be one of the key players for us; I’m happy for him and the team,” said the Monaco manager.
