Borussia Dortmund strengthened their grip on a Champions League spot for next season with a 2-0 win over struggling Union Berlin on Saturday afternoon.
Scorers: Adeyemi 41', Maatsen 90'
It was a nervy start to the game for Dortmund as Union registered plenty of early attempts, albeit none on target. The Black and Yellow grew into the game though and took the lead through a piece of brilliance from Karim Adeyemi.
Picking the ball up on the edge of the Union box, the young German cut inside before curling a brilliant left-footed effort into the top corner and hand his side the opener.
Edin Terzić's side continued to push after half time, with Ian Maatsen, Nico Schlotterbeck and Niclas Füllkrug all seeing efforts saved as Dortmund piled on the pressure.
It took until the 90th minute for that pressure to tell though, with Chelsea loanee Ian Maatsen making sure of all three points, robbing the Union defender of the ball 40 yards from goal before firing into the bottom corner.
The result means Dortmund hold onto 4th place, one point clear of RB Leipzig. Meanwhile, Union Berlin continue to hover narrowly above the relegation zone.
