Crystal Palace have announced the signing of 19-year-old midfielder Adam Wharton from Blackburn Rovers .
The midfielder joins the South London side for a fee potentially rising to £22 million, which is a club-record fee received for Rovers.
Wharton has made 51 appearances for Blackburn after coming through the clubs academy.
The England Under-20 player has been a key target for Roy Hodgson’s side this January and, after having an £18.5 million bid rejected last week, they have finally got their man.
Palace have been short in midfield since losing Cheick Doucouré to an Achilles injury earlier on in the season, so Wharton looks set to slot straight into Hodgson’s plans to stave off potential relegation.
