Watford defender Adam Masina has taken to his personal Instagram account to deliver a message to supporters and the rest of the Hornets’ squad after he was named in the Championship Team of the Season.

The Hornets have enjoyed an excellent campaign in the Championship and have been arguably the best team in the division throughout the second half of the season. That has seen them already clinch their return to the Premier League with two games to spare. However, there was only room for one Watford player in the division’s Team of the Season, and that was Masina.

The left-back has enjoyed a strong season when he has been fit and available and he has been a key part of their excellent run of form in the second half of the campaign. Overall, the defender has managed to score two goals in his 23 league appearances. While he has also been able to help his side record 11 clean sheets. That shows how important his contributions have been.

Masina took to his personal Instagram account to hail the efforts of his teammates and also to Xisco Munoz and the rest of the club’s coaching staff. While he also insisted the Hornets would continue to push for more.

The verdict

Masina is deserving of his place within the Championship’s Team of the Season at left-back, with the defender having arguably had the biggest influence on a side in his side than any other player in his position over the course of the campaign. It shows how impressive he has been that he can still make the Team of the Season despite having spent spells out of action.

The left-back beat off competition from the likes of Reading’s Omar Richards, and that shows how influential he has been in helping the Hornets establish themselves in the automatic promotion race since the turn of the year. Things were not looking so good for them before the second half of the campaign, and he has played a key role within that.

The left-back could be a massive player for them next season in the Premier League if he can keep himself fit for the full campaign. You would imagine that he will be one of the first names on the team sheet for them after his influential displays for them since the turn of the year.
