Adam Lallana signs new one-year deal with Brighton | OneFootball

Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Adam Lallana has signed a new one-year deal to extend his stay with the club to June 2024.

The 34-year-old has been with Brighton since 2020 when he joined from Liverpool.

Lallana has made 74 appearances for the club, scoring four goals and three assists. He has made 18 appearances this season, scoring three and assisting one.

He is not the first-choice attacking midfielder but still has quality left in his tank.

Lallana told the club’s website: “To know how much the club itself wanted me to stay was very touching.

“I know how smart and strategic these guys are. To know the value they placed on what I can bring really meant a lot.

“Secondly, it was the club itself. From top to bottom this place is a beacon of good practice, and I want to be part of it.”

Head coach Roberto De Zerbi added: “I am absolutely delighted for Adam – it is an honour for me and the club to continue working with him.”

After winning the Premier League, Champions League, and UEFA Super Cup during his six years on Merseyside, the former England international has been an influential figure for Brighton.

He has helped Brighton record their best-ever points return in the top flight on two occasions since he arrived.

Brighton are seventh in the Premier League after 24 games this season with 39 points.

When Brighton lost former manager Graham Potter to Chelsea, Lallana was player-manager until the club appointed De Zerbi.

Lallana began his career at the Southampton academy before debuting for the first team in 2006.

He helped the club gain back-to-back promotions from League One to the Premier League between 2010 and 2013.

He won numerous personal accolades at Southampton, even winning England player of the year.
