Midfielder Adam Forshaw is reportedly considering his next steps after receiving a lucrative contract offer from Saudi Arabia.
According to the Daily Mail, Forshaw is of interest to Saudi Pro League outfit Al-Akhdoud, and they have offered the 31-year-old a big-money deal in order to secure his services.
The development comes as the former Middlesbrough man finds himself a free agent after being released by Leeds United last month.
Forshaw was offered to return to pre-season training with the Whites – and some reports claim that the West Yorkshire club have even offered him a new contract – but he is yet to make a decision on his future.
Whilst the Englishman’s time at Leeds has been blighted by persistent injuries, there is no doubt that Forshaw offers a calm, composed midfield presence when fit.
And with the Whites now staring down the barrel of a gruelling 46-game Championship season, squad depth – particularly in a midfield area where Leeds have been lacking for some time – is a necessity.
Leeds boss Daniel Farke, given his previous experience in the division with Norwich City – a side he helped to the league title twice – will know that strength-in-depth all across the pitch is vital.
Retaining Forshaw would therefore prove a sensible move. But, with other Championship clubs interested in his services – as well as this newly reported interest from Saudi Arabia – it is unsure where the midfielder’s future lies.
Forshaw has made 91 appearances across all competitions for Leeds since joining from Middlesbrough in 2018, and can operate in either a defensive or more advanced role on the pitch.
