For the second time in succession, Achraf Hakimi has been named the best young player hailing from Africa.
Hakimi was crowned the CAF Youth Player of the Year at an awards ceremony on Tuesday.
The 21-year-old, currently on loan at Dortmund from Real Madrid, saw off Nigeria’s Samu Chukwueze (Villarreal) and Victor Osimhen (Lille).
The wing-back has become a vital player for Dortmund since joining 18 months ago. This season, the Moroccan has scored six goals and assisted six others in 26 appearances.
A 28-time international, Hakimi was also part of the Morocco squad that made a run to the AFCON round of 16.
Hakimi was also named in the 2019 African Best XI.
