After two years at Paris Saint-Germain, Achraf Hakimi is reportedly lining up a return to his former club Inter Milan.

The Morocco international has fond memories of his season-long stint at Giuseppe Meazza and would gladly reunite with the Nerazzurri, according to FCInterNews.

Despite nailing down a regular starting berth and helping Les Parisiens win back-to-back Ligue 1 titles, the 24-year-old could leave this summer.

PSG have already announced two high-profile departures after landing a record-breaking 11th Ligue 1 crown last season.

Lionel Messi and Sergio Ramos refused to extend their contracts and have bid farewell to the French heavyweights, while manager Christophe Galtier followed in their footsteps earlier this week.

Hakimi, who tallied five goals and six assists in 39 appearances in 2022/23, could be another significant first-team member to wave goodbye to the French capital in the coming months.

However, the perennial Ligue 1 champions shelled out around €60 million to capture his signature from Inter in 2021 and won’t agree to let him go for anything less than that.

Forging an offer to persuade PSG to cut Hakimi loose is the main hurdle for the Champions League runners-up, especially given the financial turmoil that’s been tormenting the Meazza outfit for years.

The player’s desire to return to Lombardy, where he won the Serie A crown in 2020/21 under the tutelage of Antonio Conte, could aid the Italians’ cause.

Inter signed Hakimi from Real Madrid in 2020 for a reported fee of €40m after the Moroccan right-back’s fantastic loan spell at Borussia Dortmund, only to sell him the following year for a hefty profit.

Two years on, and they could reunite with one of the world’s best wing-backs, although it’ll require a substantial financial sacrifice to get the deal over the line.
