Against AC Milan we made a bad impression and today we wanted to redeem ourselves. We are still running on empty wasting energy, but there have been improvements.  The match was balanced but we are still missing a little something. Now let’s turn the page, against Cagliari we need to win.

He briefly commented on the calamitous mistake made by Albanian goalkeeper Thomas Strakosha that gifted the Turkish club a goal.

I’m very sorry for Strakosha, these things happen. They were attacking a lot and a bit randomly, defensively we were focused, we did a decent defensive phase.  We are doing a lot of work to get in tune with the attack. Then you miss a pass and you get confused.

The Italian defender touched on the work the squad are doing to learn coach Maurizio Sarri’s movements and tactics.

We work a lot, we try to decrease the time it takes to find the right balance. When this team has understood all the mechanisms we will have fun.  We put a lot of thought into what the coach is asking of us, there is enthusiasm and sometimes it happens that we overdo it and make mistakes.

Finally, Acerbi discussed the next game against Cagliari on Sunday afternoon.

We have to be positive, but the important thing is to bring home the three points and at the same time do what the coach asks of us.

The Biancocelesti will be looking to bounce back in their next game against Cagliari, who recently fired coach Leonardo Semplici and replaced him with Walter Mazzarri.

The 33-year-old Acerbi is a consistent part of Sarri’s squad and will remain one of the two main centre backs this season.
